Breakfast Barley with Bananas and Pecans

Wholemeal Toast with Almond Butter & Banana

2500m swim done. Somehow I don't think this breakfast will be sufficient.

Green tea on the side. Entirely insufficient after a 2500m swim. Was ravenous by the time lunch came around.

Bircher Muesli with Toasted Pecans

Bitcher muesli. It's like coming home to an old friend. #breakfast

It's been months since I've had Bircher Muesli. I went off apples for a while after an unfortunate stomach bug. But the apples are back and so is one of my favourite breakfasts.

I made this Bircher as follows:

  1. Soaked the following in enough water to cover overnight: 30g jumbo oats, 8g dried raisins and cherries, 5g flaxseed
  2. In the morning: mixed the above with 1/2 grated apple, a squeeze of lemon juice, a pinch each of salt and cinnamon
  3. Topped with natural yogurt, sliced bananas and - the best part - toasted pecans

To me this is a perfect and sustaining way to start the day.

  • 25g oats
  • 5g wheat bran
  • 3g sunflower seeds
  • 4g almonds
  • 5g raisins
  • 50g milk
  • 50g natural yogurt
  • 1/2 banana
  • ~10 grapes

Are these measurements rediculous or what? 

On-the-Go Toast with Almond Butter

Breakfast on the go. Not a depressing as it looks.

It's cleaning lady day. She comes at 9am. So I decided to spend the morning at the gym and doing my grocery shopping. Hence: the packed breakfast. This pic looks kind of sad, but it wasn't so bad. My gym has a good-for-a-gym cafe with lots of couches and tea served in real glass mugs and free wifi. So, I packed along some wholemeal toast with almond butter and a banana. This was about enough food to really get my fires stoked - I was starvin' marvin' the rest of the morning. Good food, but insufficient.
